Episode 4: Milk was a Bad Choice

Published on January 14th, 2011

In this mostly spoiler-free episode, we look at the rise of the Frat Pack, with a focus on the Will Ferrell/Adam McKay movie Anchorman. D-Generation X, Anchorman 2, and a theory that Adam McKay is a self-important douchebag are all discussed.

    Hey Alex and James,

I just wanted to point out another and slightly earlier source of quotations: The Simpsons. Although it was a television show, I can recall the heavy quotation of the Simpsons during it’s prime (1993-2000?). “Shave those sideburns mattingly;” “No, dig up stupid;” “I was saying ‘Boo-urns;'” are a few examples. Perhaps the quotability of these so called frat-pack movies are a result of a culture that grew up with quoting the Simpsons trying to replace that quotability. “Need some more cowbell” is the ultimate quote though, not in quality, but in how many times I hear it.
