The MacGuffin Men Recap – July 25th to July 29th

Published on July 29th, 2011

In case your priorities are way off and you haven’t been checking this site at least once a day this week, here’s what you may have missed.

MONDAY: James discussed the announcement of the next Jurassic Park movie, why the 4th one has taken so long to get underway, and exposes some darker things you may not have known about the author of the Jurassic Park books. He also shares the most overly epic movie frame ever.

TUESDAY: Alex dropped the tough guy act and talks about love in movies, how rarely on-screen chemistry works and why the best thing about The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is what people seemed to hate the most. He also looks at Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, explaining why he likes them so much.

WEDNESDAY: James strongly suggested The Matador, a woefully underseen dark comedy. Pierce Brosnan gives his best performance ever in this excellent movie that plays with his eternal association with James Bond.

THURSDAY: The MacGuffin Men looked at Captain America: The First Avenger and X-Men: First Class, and why fake superheroes are dealing with real-world history. We also speculate about which butcher Chris Evans stole entire hams from and how he got them to stay on his chest like that.

FRIDAY: Alex provides a guide to Toronto movie theatres, suggesting which ones to make your primary moviegoing destination to basically talking a gang of shit about AMC Yonge/Dundas.
